On the first official day of D23 2022, Disney showed several first looks, announcements, and clips for its and Pixar upcoming animated and live-action movies.
Wish
A new movie from Disney Animation Studio, Wish will follow a young girl named Asha who wishes on a star and gets a more direct answer than she bargained for when a trouble-making star comes down from the sky to join her. Ariana DeBose will be voicing the movie’s protagonist, and Alan Tudyk will be voicing a goat named Valentino. The movie will be a musical with songs from Julia Michaels, and will had a new animation style for Disney that combines watercolor with CG animation. Wish is set to release in November 2023.
The Little Mermaid 2023 (Live-action)
Disney finally showed the first look of The Little Mermaid 2023 live-action. It aired teaser-trailer of the film, which includes a bit of the song: “Part of Your World.” The movie is set to be released on May 26, 2023.
Peter Pan And Wendy
Disney revealed that its new Peter Pan movie, starring Jude Law as Captain Hook, is set to debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2023, and released a new poster.
Mufasa: The Lion King
The Lion King live-action prequel movie is coming from Barry Jenkins, the director of Moonlight. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will return as Timon and Pumbaa for the prequel. The prequel’s title was also revealed, it will be Mufasa: The Lion King. The movie is set to be released in 2024.

Hocus Pocus 2
This sequel was long-awaited, but the latest trailer brings back the series trio of witches for more magic. The movie will be released on September 30, 2022 on Disney Plus.
Disenchanted
Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey reprise their roles in this sequel to Enchanted that now finds Giselle trying to navigate motherhood and living a “normal” life. But with a bit of magic, and Maya Rudolph the new adventures coming. The movie will be released on November 24, 2022 on Disney Plus.
Plus Disney announced other projects and sequels: Inside Out 2, Win or Lose, Iwaju and others.
